Enjoy your practice with the koi floating on a royal purple pond background π
The City Temple in Shanghai, China boasts a large pond with several offshooting streams filled with goldfish, koi (carp), and mandarin ducks. In this mat, we show the koi which was seen in abundance at this temple.
The name “Koi” is Japanese for “carp”, and is also a homophone for another word which means affection or love. Suitably, the koi symbolises love and friendship in Japan π¬π«π.
There are 22 main varieties of koi, in a seemingly limitless variety of colours, with new hybrids and types being developed all the time. Here we have chosen the Shiro Bekko variety, a predominantly white koi with black markings or spots on its body βͺβ«.
